How to make Nut Milk

How to make Nut Milk

Did you ever do your milk by yourself? Not, so let's do it together.

I try to avoid cow milk as much as possible. My body doesn't like it very much, as I am often feeling tired, my stomach hurts and I am looking like a teenager... There was a time I had so many pimples in my face, ugly and big ones...and this with 28 (!). Ehm who wants that? My beautician told me then, that I should avoid cow milk. I did and honestly, my skin does look so much better now.

There is a fantastic range of nut and soya milk in the stores and I do really like them. But it tastes so much better if I do my milk by myself. Not just that I know what's inside, also to feel proud of myself 😍

I am going to show you now how simple it is.

Homemade Hazelnut Milk

All you need is nuts, a nut bag, and a blender. Nutbags are a bit expensive and you can buy them just in a few stores. That's why I used a laundry bag - you can buy it in every supermarket. I bought mine from DM (my preferred drugstore in Germany), it comes with one small and one large bag for only about 2 EURO 🙈 Use the small one for your milk and the larger one for your laundry. Make sure to wash it with some hot water before you are going to pour your nut milk trough it.

You can store your homemade nut milk just for a few days in the fridge. So it's the best to drink it fast or make just little portions. If you did it once or twice you will see how fast it goes.

Just to tell you, this week I am going to show you many recipes you can make with your nut milk - it's my personal nut week and I hope you are all in with me 😍

So let's go to the recipe!

Basic Recipe - Hazelnut Milk - 1 Liter

Ingredients

  • 100g hazelnuts
  • 1 L cold water

Method

Put the hazelnuts into a glass jar with lid, cover with water and put the lid on. Soak them over night in water.

Rinse the hazelnuts, wash them with clean water and put them into a blender. Add 1-liter cold water and blend on high speed for a few minutes until smooth. Put the nut bag (or laundry bag) over a big pan and pour the mixture into the bag. Squeeze and press all the hazelnut milk through the nut bag till you get as much milk as possible.

Pour your milk into a glass bottle and store it in your fridge up to a few days.

This is the basic recipe. You can use your milk now for a dessert, smoothie, drink...

If you want to drink it like that or pour it into your coffee, I highly recommend that you are going to put your milk back to the blender, add following ingredients, blend it again and pour it into a glass bottle and store it in the fridge. Trust me, the taste will be much better 💜

Ingredients - For a more tasteful and delicious hazelnut milk

  • 1L hazelnut milk
  • 40g coconut flower syrup
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp bourbon vanilla

My Personal Recommendation

You can use this recipe for every kind of nuts. Here are two more of my favourite ones. The procedure is always the same, you just have to change the nuts :)
